I love books that have strong elements of loyalty and deep love between friends. The world that Cashore has created is vivid and thrilling and filled with heart wrenching questions of morality particularly around the theme of power and control.
Fire was both deep, thought provoking and easy to read. It's fast paced plot and flawed characters were perfectly balanced.
The only thing that irked me was the word 'monster'... but by the first couple of chapters I was so enthralled it didn't bother me anymore. It was one of those books that you long to lose yourself in and feel guilty about being away too long as the characters you love are suffering in limbo.
Now I shall patiently wait for Bitterblue to be finished and pre-order it as soon as I am able.
