The only other book I've ever read of Ted Dekker's was Blink, and that was a few years ago now. At the time I really loved it but as it was so long ago I wasn't really sure what kind of impact Kiss was going to have on me.
Don't be fooled by the cover, this isn't some christian authors take on the teen vampire urban fantasy fad that is quickly becoming so sickening.... this is something really different and refreshing.
Reading Kiss made me remember what I loved about Blink. It's the way Dekker takes such a fast paced thriller and gives it deep and thought-provoking meaning. Rarely in thrillers do I ever find myself understanding or empathising with any of the characters, but with Dekker I do. His characters are vivid and interesting, his plot line is mysterious and engaging, and not without a little romance... which I understand from reviews is co-author Erin Healy's influence.
I look forward to going back and re-reading this one every couple of years.
