Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter)

Guilty Pleasures - Laurell K. Hamilton I know people rave about these books, I even borrowed Guilty Pleasures from one such of these ravers, however I was left quite at a loss with what is just so compelling. When I complained to my raver friend that it just felt to empty of depth and character she proceeded to tell me that the others were better... one of them even has a threesome between a human, a vampire and a werewolf. No thanks, not for me. A book has to contain a little more, make that a whole lot more, than erotica to hold my attention as I will most likely skip over those sections (I know, I'm weird aren't I?).
And in general, the book was just sordid and depressing. I like to feel good at the end of a book, or at the very least satisfied or like I've gained something of value. I felt none of these things with Guilty Pleasures.
